‘Field’ work

“Isn’t it amazing to have such a variety of humans from so many walks of life gathering in one place to sing and proclaim the same thing.
There is something beautiful about that.”

The Church can be, and is, a place of welcome, action, and comfort for so many. At Colab we want local churches to realise their potential, but we understand that this isn’t something that happens overnight or without serious effort.

We walked out in silence, it wasn’t what I would call a ‘great service’.
What would she think? Would she ever come back with me?
We got into the car and I gathered some courage within myself and uttered that dangerous question.

“So, how did you find that?”

She paused, looked directly at me and said “Wow, there must be something in this. Isn’t it amazing to have such a variety of humans from so many walks of life gathering in one place to sing and proclaim the same thing. There is something beautiful about that”.

I’ve had the absolute joy and privilege of being part of four local churches in my lifetime so far. I also spent over five years travelling the country working with churches all across the country getting a unique insight into the huge variety of communities, people & spaces that carry the label ‘church’.

And there is no doubt in my mind that church communities are beautiful, unique spaces. The experience above with my university friend reminds me how powerful the gathered community can be.

I’m also aware of the painful, messy and frustrating place church can be too.

Pulling these two thoughts together is where Colab comes in. We believe that at its best, the church can be a brilliant vessel for sharing God’s love, peace and hope for all people. We also know that sometimes specific skills or expertise are needed to grow a certain area of local church and that isn’t always found within the volunteers of a specific church family.

So we come with a heart to serve your community, to meet you where you’re at and to run alongside you for part of the journey. Every good explorer needs a team of specialists to them succeed, every athlete needs a support team. We hope to operate a little like this for you.

“A successful athlete will always have a strong team…who provide a vital cog in getting the best performance possible”

The Support Team Behind The Elite Athlete by Tom Stewart

At Colab we hope to combine practical skills with relational working to ensure your project or system or mission can grow and be successful, freeing you up as a leader or a community to develop and be all that you are meant to be.
