They couldn’t quite believe their eyes. This was it. This was the moment. This was the star.
The Magi were miles away from the action, not likely candidates to be interrupted by the birth of a baby in Bethlehem, but they were different. They had been preparing for the interruption.
Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship Him.
I’d never really thought about this before, but how did they know to look for the star? Well, apparently, it’s likely that the Magi would have been trained in the Scriptures, learned people who had studied the prophecies and were waiting. But not just for one generation, the waiting had been passed on from Magi to Magi – to be ready for THAT star.
It’s hard to imagine how they would have felt as their eyes saw it, but one thing is certain, they were ready for the interruption, ready to up and move and follow it.
Where is the one?
They gladly welcomed the interruption of the birth of the baby, in fact they were willing to interrupt their lives to go and worship Him.
It’s left me thinking – am I ready for the interruptions, expect them even? How far would I journey to worship the King?
