Choosing New Habits | Navigate Part 12

September 5, 2023

Welcome to the final session of the Navigate Programme. As we embark on this closing chapter, let’s take a moment to reminisce about our voyage: In our previous session, we embraced the strength of journeying together and learned that our freedom has the power to liberate others as well. Today, we gather to reflect on our journey, celebrate our growth, and prepare to carry these lessons forward. This content was first written as sessions that were intended to be done in groups within organisations, charities and churches. You can read more about the history and beginnings of Navigate here. Each session is written to equip individuals and groups to navigate life’s complex journey. This blog series is our way of giving you a taster of this content and an insight into what Navigate is all about. If you think Navigate might be useful in your context, do let us know.

Signpost 12: The Journey Continues

Our journey is guided by signposts, and today’s truth illuminates our path: “The Journey Continues.” As we approach the culmination of this transformative experience, remember that our path of growth and learning never truly ends. Imagine you could travel anywhere in the world. Who would you want to share that adventure with?

In the past 11 weeks, we’ve delved into the big themes of change, freedom, and awareness. The tools and insights we’ve gained are treasures that we can carry with us throughout life’s journey. Just as a toolbox equips us for tasks, we’ve cultivated a toolkit of wisdom. We recognize that our journey will continue, replete with challenges and joys. Armed with newfound awareness and resilience, we’re better prepared to navigate future bumps in the road. Let’s embrace change and stride confidently forward.

Reflecting on our voyage, we’ve examined the past, engaged with the present, and looked toward the future. As we journey forward, let’s internalise the truths we’ve learned and share them with those around us. Imagine walking forward while facing backward – inevitable collisions would follow. Although we occasionally glance over our shoulders to honour our history, let’s march ahead, empowered by the insights and freedom we’ve gained.

Imagine you started this journey with an empty toolkit – though we are sure you didn’t! What has been added to it during these sessions? Recognize that tools are gathered over a lifetime. Navigating is just one facet of this journey – an opportunity to grow and learn. Navigate has hopefully helped you to commit to a growth mindset.

Pause for a moment of reflection. Consider how the Navigate Programme has shaped your self-perception and your story. Write down your insights, answering: How has Navigate shaped how you view yourself and your story?

Each perspective adds to our collective growth. You might find it useful to consider:

  • What new knowledge or perspectives have you gained?
  • What moments from this journey stand out as highlights?
  • What areas do you feel compelled to continue learning about?

Consider all 12 signpost statements. Examine the signposts we’ve encountered – which ones resonate with you the most? Choose your top 5 signposts that you want to remember and carry with you as you journey ahead.

  1. I can move forward
  2. It’s very good to be me
  3. I can belong
  4. I have gifts to share
  5. We all experience bumps in the road
  6. We can be kind to ourselves
  7. I can experience freedom
  8. I can ask for help
  9. Tomorrow doesn’t have to be the same as today
  10. I can choose a new way
  11. It’s better to journey together
  12. The journey continues

As we conclude this transformative journey, reflect on your path ahead. How will you continue navigating to ensure your progress? It might be useful to share your reflections with someone you can trust. Alternatively, booking a coaching session might be a useful next step. It’s important to have people around you that can witness to their growth as they witness to yours.

With gratitude for your dedication and active engagement, we embark on the next phase of our individual and collective journeys. Until we meet again, may your path be illuminated by the insights and wisdom gathered along the way. Farewell, fellow explorers, and onwards we go!

We’re really grateful that you have journied through the Navigate Programme through these blog posts. Colab exists for individuals and organistations, setting our sights on enabling everyone to become who they were made to be. The Navigate Programme is one part of that. If you are interested in running the Navigate Programme in your context, we’d love to chat about ways to do that. Please get in touch and let us know what you think!
